Last week we showed Los Angeles who the true king of junk was when we helped a long-time resident clear out their apartment.  While some may call the tenant had some hoarding tendancies, I'd like to think of him as an avid collector of fine antiquities.  The best news is that we were able to work with our donation partners to find new homes for most of the items we hauled.  

Today we helped some roommates donate all of the furniture they didn't want to bring to their next apartment. We made the process quick and easy for them and we were able to work within their budget. Job well done

Today we received a call for a same-day appointment to help remove a 3-piece couch.  Sometimes strategy is important, other times brute strength is the way to go.  This was one of those times.  Funny story though, since this removal was in a massive apartment complex, my lead lugger got lost and couldn't find his way back to the truck.  He had to text our driver to honk the horn so he knew which direction to go!  Lesson - don't get lost while carrying a couch!

Today we provided a estimate for a customer in Hawthorne, CA to help clean-out a storage unit.  We love these kinds of jobs because there is usually some great, donateable items in storage units.  The customer was impressed by our dedication to the environment and our ability to work within his budget.  As a result, Junkluggers was awarded the job and will be back in a few weeks when to haul everything away when the customer is ready.

While we appreciate all of the jobs and clients that come our way, we always remember the ones where we get to make a difference by helping solve a problem.  Today we were able to solve a problem by removing a built-in Fridge and moving the new one into place.  Alot of older kitchen designs were built around the fridge that was in place, so it takes some creative manuevering to get it out.

Today we had a great experience helping a property manager to clean out a unit after a tentant vacated the property.  Its our job to show up on time, get in and out quickly, and make sure that we are disposing items as responsibly and thoughtfully as possible!

Today our crew of Luggers were tasked with clearing out a hoarder apartment.  I'd say this is pretty low level hoarding, probably about a 2 on the hoarder scale of 1-5.  Its our job to be respectful and courteous, and to donate and or recycle as much as possible.

Reclaiming yard space is one of our favoritte things to do - especially for repeat customers!  It was our pleasure to help this homeowner rid their beautiful outdoor space of these unwanted items.

Today we had the opportunity to help two brothers clear out the remaining items from their storage unit.  The brothers hosted a successful estate sale where they were able to sell or give away a large portion of the items that they were looking to get rid of.  However there were some items left over that they didn't know what to do with - so they called The Junkluggers.

Working with realtors to help prepare items for sale is a big part of what we do.  It is no secret that houses that are roomy and spacious sell faster and for higher prices than houses that are cluttered and feel small.  Last week we had the opportunity to help a Realtor add value to their clients experience by removing five truckloads worth of unused or unwanted household items.  The best part, we were able to donate as much as the donation centers could handle!

We recently completed a garage cleanout for a lovely couple in Hermosa Beach and during the process we picked up a beautiful wood poker table.  Unfortunately the donation centers wouldn't accept it.  While they are great partners for us, they have so much incoming inventory that they are very selective over what they take.  So, instead of letting this poker table go to waste, we reached out to the local community through Facebook Marketplace and offered the item for free pickup.  Today we were able to find a new home for the table, keeping it out of the landfills, while also helping friends get together for a night of poker and fun.

This weekend the Junkluggers of West LA hosted a free eWaste recycling event at the Playa Vista Farmers' Market.  We invited the community and all of Los Angeles, CA to join us on Saturday October 30th and to bring anything they needed to dispose of - as long as it hard a cord!  We then worked with a partner to have these items recycled and disposed of responsibly.  We accepted TV's, Printers, Batteries, Laptops, old Phones, and all kinds of electronics.
